With so much content getting cleared, I’ve been raiding a whole a lot, even on off-nights. Taking my Priest through Naxx, all those achievement runs, etc. So for the past week or so I’ve been playing very light-heartedly. I’ve haven’t done much on my Priest other than make bags to list on the Auction House, do the cooking daily on Drotara and things like that.
Most of time in-game has been chilling with the real-life folks who started playing over on Pike’s server. With 3.1 still in development and a full raid schedule starting again when it hits I am trying to keep myself from getting too bored with raiding. All the new content will be awesome but I just don’t want to be sick of it by the time it goes live.
I’m still logging on during raid nights, helping other guildies with random stuff if they bring it up, etc. But no Arena and no real effort to finish gearing Phuzuda.
With most people finished with this content, outside of a few pieces here and there, I wonder what everyone else is doing when you don’t need more than a day or so to clear content. Alts, rep, etc? Share what you are doing in the comments!

I’ve been working mostly on Horde city reps (gogo great white kodo!), with a smattering of dailies and cleaning up my last heroic achievements so I can at least get a red proto-drake. I joined the 2nd-best Horde guild on the server last week and since then have gotten 25-man 3drakes and 10-man 2drakes, and will hopefully be grabbing Undying and 10-man 3drakes this week (*fingers crossed*), so I’m still grinding out consumables and repairs gold. At least my herb/alch druid finally hit 77 and can fly around, and my miner/skinner dk can usually win 1v1 pvp encounters by attrition :)
Glad to hear you’re to the point where you can chill out until the patch though, if I’d been in a serious raiding guild for most of the time the current content was up I’d probably have quit by now…
My hunter is still working on the Glory of the Raider, 5 achievements away. (well 6, haven’t spent that much time working on Sarth so don’t have Twilight Duo either) Starting to cut back on 25s a little. Been grabbin up a bunch of achievements such as the 50 pet and 1 rep away from the 25 exalted. Doing some pet leveling/grinding. On 4th profession > 400 in little over a month (Skinning -> Herb -> Mining -> JC). Plans down the road to turn the DK into a leather farmer and leveling a 3rd alt strictly to have bag seller/pocket DEer.

Here’s how I see things:
You can’t hate the night if you’ve lived your whole life without out light, and you can’t hate the dish if you’ve only ever eaten fish. You can’t feel alone if it’s all you ever known . . . .
krutoypotsan’s last blog post..JUST HELP ME OUT!
I’m in the position, like many of you guys, that there is very little left “to do” ingame. Getting both metaachi done inside a weekspan makes me feel the same fatigue people in old days felt once they reached their ‘goal’. Be it getting the trinket from M’uru or glaives from Illidan – sometimes people who get the most rare loot or hardest obtained kill/achievement done just falls off the grid.
I personally belive it’s related to the different way people motivate themselves. “I’m going to keep raidingattendance up until we’ve cleared content” or “Once i get hold of the M’uru trinket, ill quit this timeconsuming game and go out and enjoy the sun instead”.
These and all other reasons to keep on raiding can sometimes show up as “the solid rock in the raid that just one day disupeared”, seen it plenty of times. At first it annoyed me – I was used to count on them and no officer likes to see a solid raidmember that on top of that are amongst the ones in the raidmaterial that has the most experience, or best gear.
Reason I bring this up is that it comes to mind reading your blog. You seem to have achieved a goal and now you need to find a new motivation/ take a break /simular reason.
It might come across that I dont agree with you and that I might be making assumptions that aren’t based on facts. Quite the contrary on the first part and the second I totally agree :) I personally enforce “If you are not happy with your situation, make a change” which in your case seems to be a bit of a downtime in intensity, which is, if you ask me, a good call.
Personally I am in the situation, like you used to be Drotara, that I’m in the officerrole. A role that some belive to be everything from ‘God mode’ in guild to “some extra job”. Anyone tried out to be officer knows it, especially in a raiding guild I would argue, to be the worst spot in a guild on average ;)
You try your best to acomondate members wishes and requests and if you dont watch out you find yourself cynical and drained.
At the stage of content getting old and new content is nowhere in sight its even worse. Guilds in general lacks proper motivation which is your job (thank god for the achievement regarding motivation) as officer and you yourself might find yourself even more tired.
Thats my situation more or less. I’m -very- tired of the current content as it offers little or no challenge and my characters progression has hit a halt on every front. I would have to get into arena (which i hate as im an old FPS gamer and i dont like the paper, scissors rock scenario), go do the Loremaster achievement (quest in Kalimdor anyone? uck..) or start fishing rare fishes. Good thing to have an alt even though I never been much for alts myself (timeconsumers) I guess.
I will probably spend the comming weeks helping guildies getting their metaachievements done (having not died once on my main for over a month in nax makes me feel i ought to be unlucky soon) and work on slimming down my addonsetup to gain more fps. Perhaps a Format C: and reinstall of WoW is in order too.
Either way I will continue to cut down on gametime as I’m very tired of the game right now even though I know 3.1 will make me giggle like a girl of joy. Going to spend more time outside my computer room though for sure :)
i could do the heroic instance achievements but its so boring so all i do is play fifa09 or quest with my lvl 80 dk to make some cash… :/
@krutoypotsan The Deep Sea Angler Fish has no reason to be happy but has no friggin idea what else to be. :)
@shanx I am still logging for all the raids. I am still the new guy so I want them to know I am going to be there. But I think a lot of people feel the same way. We need the new content. Blizzard probably could have started this a month or more earlier and people would have been happy. Oh well. :)
It is almost a shame that Blizzard doesn’t open up “one” zone at a time with major releases. Think Shattered Sun, but for zone by zone in a continent.
Me, I am doing it the other way around… seeing the world, then I will see if there is anyone around to take me through the “end game” content for a look.
Good chance there wont be anyone around… but then maybe people will still be grinding emblems
Gnomeaggedon’s last blog post..Class Battle
I’m not into achievements, and I accomplished all the raid stuff I wanted, except Malygos. I have a weird problem with that fight — the flashy lights make me too disoriented to actually play. So, I rolled a ret pally, got him some legacy weapons and am trying to get him to 80 before Ulduar.
This takes me back to the post about the Pali who said he was quitting until 3.1.
While obviously the time frame is different, I too have been feeling bored with everything but 10/25 3D. Now our guild is in dwindling numbers because of burn out. I log for raids but only need a few more items to be done. This is my only toon at 80 because of commitments outside of wow that thing called RL. I always make sure I maintain balance. I have never been bored in wow before been playing since 2 months after release. I think the recycling of Naxx left no learning curve for raiding guilds. This equals easy loot and becomes a grind, but all instances have been grinds. I believe all classes will be nerfed a little more to make the instances more challenging, lets hope Hard mode helps.
I think Blizz didn’t know how powerful we would be at 80. There were so many raid and toon changes that we put way more dps,tps and hps than planned for, making the instances pugable. Which is a shame lets hope we all get more challenges than just new content.
Gratz Dro for the title and the mount.
@Shanx – I think Dro’s position is more liek the one most of my guild is in. Just far less time spent on mains. We are still raiding, but we can clear in 1.5 sessions. (Yes, 3D. =) Slower levelling members, or ones that dissapeared for a bit after BC, are now raiding. Alt runs are being organized, hell, we have rules to allow alts in main runs (gogo 2k SP tree alt!)
Like you said, it’s a downturn of intensity. When you can sleepwalk through everything save 3D, continuing to make that your focus will burn you out and bore you. So we’ve found other ways to occupy of general playing time, while maintaining unit cohesion for Ulduar, and even adding flexibility with geared alts that we might not have had otherwise.
Remua’s last blog post..I’m not so good at this
Agreed. And for me characterprogression is all that matters, it’s what makes me interessted. Having pretty much everything I aimed for sorted, tuesdays is the most fun evening of the raiding days (Alt run nax 25 , + malygos if time allows). Atleast on my warrioralt I still got upgrades to get, achivements to be done and tests to pass.
Only being online during raidhours feels nice and the raidexpenses is easily covered by cashing out a valor token bought wrist (or 2, warrior alt raiding) to sell.
Less time online now at spring is nice. Just a shame they are going to drop a bomb a’la Sunwell patch 2.4 just when the summer is about to start. It’s a mess to motivate people to show up during summertime and me myself rather be in horizontal position under the sun than on some pixels ofcourse ;)
To attain that I would guess last year tactic to get as much as possible on farm before end of june is a good idea as thats when summer really kicks in. In July, August people need to be reasonably geared. This ofcourse with experience of sunwell in mind. Ulduar might just turn out to be, as Blizzard said compared to Sunwell, slightly harder than Naxxramas which should help getting more freetime.
‘Hello Kitty – Ulduar Adventure’ maybe? :)
working on my Insane in the Membrane achivement.. the DMF rep sofar is the one kicking my balls… sooo bloody costly.
I think I am perhaps one of the few out here that feels this way, but… there is still so much left for me to do! I still have a few bosses in Naxx I haven’t seen, including Sapph and Kel’Thuzad (my guild actually full clears Naxx every week, they just always do it when I’m at work >.>) and tomorrow we are going to start Sarth with drakes. Basically we just started raiding as a guild a few weeks and we still have a lot to do!
That said… I am playing a lot of alts… mostly because I always have though =P
Pike’s last blog post..Bon Appetit: Pet Snacks!
I’m trying to rouse my guild into some sort of desire to play the freaking game. Also taking this down time to see who are the folks still hanging out and who are the folks that only come to get loot.
Confronted one of them last night and he gave the excuse “There’s nothing else I need in Naxx why would I go?”. Needless to say I’m not taking him to Ulduar.
Inbetween raids? My fishing is 382 so far :D
Spooner’s last blog post..Arena Season 5’s Mount is the Frostwyrm
We’re working on OS 2D right now in the 10man. We never really bothered with it, working on Maly25/Naxx25 instead. Now that we have time, 10 of us are trying to see if we can’t nail 3D by ulduar launch. (granted this is on my pally)
For my hunter, my main goal is to get black ice. My pally’s prot gear is 1 item away from what I consider his BiS set for current content (damn you maexxna), so I can finally take the normal raid days to train up some new tanks (even us MTs get tired of raiding every now and then) while gearing out my hunter at the same time.
I am leveling a druid, in nearly 4 years of game play I’ve never cared or had the time to level an alt. She is level 55 =), she is also in the market for leet hunters with nothing to do to run her through scarey instances such as Scholomance, let me know if you know any.
We’re clearing everything on Tuesday and making a killing selling 6min/3drake achievements and spend the rest of the week messing around on the PTR and doing ten man runs.
That being said Drot, we also host an alt Naxx 25 on Friday nights and would LOVE to have a priest who knows wtf he is doing to MC instructor adds =) would be cool to bring you along.
@Zenge Haha, awesome. If I am home on Friday I will definitely try to get a hold of someone to bring Phuzuda along. :)
Hey guys, I am pretty new to the community ,but I know drotara when I was on his server. Yeah I have been busy getting ready for 3.1 having my wish list disapear soon (hopefully). Slowly but surely I work on other alts and stuff so either that when I am sitting at like 90 silver per a toon I go mining on Dragon for a bit get gems and junk. I wish I had the dedication to other toons but I dont must be nice I eman I have a 75 warrior :) nothing to big. Yeah I hope all is well in the community with all you hunters out there gearing up and getting ready for the changes.
