While the server behaved better for us last night than it did the night before, it still felt laggy and choppy inside the Dread Citadel. But that didn’t stop us from clearing out the rest of the place, up to Sapphiron and Kel’thuzad. And it certainly didn’t stop me from putting up numbers that I can be pleased with, especially considering I was still rocking a lot of blue gear. While we started with Instructor Razuvious, the first chart-topping fight was Gothik the Harvester. The boss doesn’t have what you would call a lot of hit points. It’s more of a “Congratulations, you can kill trash mobs” fight.
But rather than list all these fights, the true test of DPS is good ‘ol Patchwerk. At least somethings haven’t changed as he is still a measure for your raid’s DPS capabilities and how much of a beating your tanks can take. And considering at the time I was still wielding 6 blue items, a Gronnstalker Helmet and largely unenchanted, I was quite happy. The WWS is right here. And for those who can’t click on the link:
It’s interesting to comb through the WWS parse, especially to find things like this. That link just shows that Khagan did 2094 DPS on his own. Looking at my own stats it does indeed show that I never missed with only being just over 8% hit at the time. Good support for the previous post regarding the new hit cap. But on the same note, it indicates Khagan is most definitely not hit capped. His normal swing missed 8.3% of the time and Claw missed 5.9% of the time. That’s why I am definitely going to be aiming for 8% bonus hit without using Focused Aim, to help provide as much bonus hit I can to Khagan.
And what did I get as pay-off for the evening, other than the achievements for completing the wings? Valorous Cryptstalker Spaulders. Ah yah. Combined with the 10-man BP I bought with badges gives me the first set bonus, meaning Khagan now does 5% more damage. I also went and finished my Argent Crusade reputation, picked up their epic leather boots, and Ingvar finally gave me an upgrade for my helm to tide me over.
Late last night I was in Sholazar Basin, as well as a couple guildies who were farming herbs. Then on Vent our guild leader was like “Ah, it’s King Krush.” That statement was followed by “Oh crap, a Warrior is trying to gank me.” Being he was a Holy Paladin with an elite mob tagged and an Arms Warrior beating on him, Cithe and myself started flying . . . somewhere. We knew we had to get to him but were waiting for him to invite us to his group. The Warrior took off when we showed up and we managed to kill King Krush so we unexpectedly picked up the Northern Exposure achievement.
Well, that’s all for today. Thoughts, comments, yadda yadda.

What happened with the Mana Potion? Haha.
It would appear as if your terrible potion has met it's end.
I am glad I haven't had to use too many mana potions. Cheaper that way. :)
What happened to your rogues? I glanced at their gear/specs and they don't look too bad. Did they used to get top dps?
Maybe combat spec is just fail now. I use Sub/Hat and almost always sit in the top 5. Not that my anecdotal evidence means anything.
This guild is fairly new so I don't know many of these folks personally. A lot of them seem to be friends though. I was surprised they were as low as they were, because as you said, most of their gear is pretty good. /shrug
My terrible terrible terrible Endless Mana Potion.
Did I mention terrible? :)
Same thing happened to me when I came across King Krush. Two Shamans came out of nowhere when he was at about 20% health, but luckily Kill Shot and my gorilla got him down before they killed me.
Wait, isn't the pet's miss amount a bit strange still? Let's say you have 5% hit from gear (I don't now your current equip, but let's say it's around this number). The miss for melee from your previous post should be around 9%, right? So your pet should miss roughly 4% times in that case, but is missing 8% times … strange
*know, not now … crap :)
One thing that was speculated in the EJ thread was that the decimal places of your hit do not carry over to your pet, so 7.99% would translate to only 7% hit for your pet. This clearly does not account for these results, but it is worth noting.
My work computer is not behaving well with WWS, but from the glimpses of info I got, it does not appear that any differentiation is made between pure misses and dodges/parries/etc. That should account for the discrepency in expected hit vs. the real numbers.
I actually read that same thing and it seems to make sense. That's why I am aiming to hit just over 8% hit so that it rounds down to 8. Brig from the Hunting Lodge started a thread on the DPS forums where this was brought up as well.
You'll get there. :)
Yeah, BM is going to want to get as much hit from gear as possible, which means extra talent points…
Where, O Great Hunter of Awesomeness Who Makes It So I Can Effectively DPS Without Recieving Crap For Drops (Hunter loot is a myth), shall we put those extra points?
Improved Tracking seems like it will be conventional wisdom, but with pets making up so much of hunter DPS, would 51 BM and a Devilsaur with it's stacking ability be a larger increase?
Sadly, as I learned from my Naxx run last night, I'm not good enough to get a solid answer on numbers. I have a lot to improve on, and my current guild had a great many issues with the Arachnid Quarter (which I had pugged easily within hours of hiting 80) so my dps time is messed up with having to do things like Naaru myself since the healers ONLY heal who they are told to, and no one was told to raid heal…
Those numbers look damn impressive! Gratz on your progression and gear. Thx also for the great post about hit cap below.
I'm pretty casual, not even guilded, so probably wont raid (although there do seem to be pugs about and raid content is being reported as easy). Anyway, I was interested to hear what kind of numbers you might be pumping out in a heroic like H VH? I seem to remember a few posts ago hearing about 3300, but I only knock out around 2400 atm (my armory paperdoll shows 632dps, 3381dps, 26%crit, 113 hit).
I'm actually a very similar spec to yourself Dro with BM + readiness. So although my gear is heroic only, if the numbers are nowhere close it will let me know if there is more room for me to grow in terms of technique. Thx for your feedback if you have time to hit an HVH.
Well this was the first build I was going with before we learned about the change: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=ctbMzgxRwu0eoxceVb...
I have now moved to this:

Unless of course, you like exotic pets, then just drop Readiness for the 51-pointer.
And by 3381dps I mean 3381AP.
We can dream though….
Readiness is too good to pass up. (But, it might merit some testing)
OK, so I clearly have emptied my brain. You can't have Readiness and Exotic Pets. Not until the next expansion…
Note to self: Monkey with the talent calculator, THAN post.
