"Well, here I am." – What to do about PvP?

So I ended up with a level 60 Rogue and Warlock. Yup, Warrior, Warlock, Rogue. I was overpowered.

I am fiercely loyal to my characters. What do I mean by fiercely? My first character in the original beta was a Night Elf Warrior named Aratar. When all my friends wanted to roll Alliance, I made a Night Elf Warrior named Aratar. I could not bring myself to level an alt while there was something I could be doing on my Warrior. It was not until we had killed Nefarion and before AQ was open that I finally brought myself to level alts. So I ended up with a level 60 Rogue and Warlock. Yup, Warrior, Warlock, Rogue. I was overpowered. And when Burning Crusade hit, those two characters have not seen the light of day other than being hauled out to Hellfire for about half an hour.

Then the guild who I had been with since being level 50 (and I was the third highest level Warrior on the server at that time) went kablooey (Is that how you spell kablooey?) after years of being successful. My friends wanted to re-roll to Illidan for PvP purposes. So I rolled Drotara with never the intent of doing much. After all, how could I give up a Warrior? Tanks were always needed, I was easy-mode in Arena. I was golden. Besides, how many people can show off their Teebu’s Blazing Longsword, Runeblade of Baron Rivendare, and a Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros? Not many.

Boy, that didn’t turn out exactly how I planned. Here I am. And here we are at an interesting spot. Season 4 isn’t over yet, although we are a hefty way into it. And “the patch” hasn’t it hit yet. Neither has Wrath of the Lich King. So while a few prominent Hunters have called it quits, we aren’t dead. Now to be honest, things are not looking fantastic for competitive Arena. We are still suffering from the fundamental issues that we are currently experiencing.

Our crowd-control is easily dispelled or removed and suffers from long cooldownsWe are prone to line-of-sight, we don’t have truly effective defense against melee, we don’t have any defense against magic, our crowd-control is easily dispelled or removed and suffers from long cooldowns (comparatively speaking). The list goes on. And while the play-style we have been pigeon-holed into has received a bonus or two, in the form of Chimera Shot helping with the mana drain, we still need to live long enough for it to take effect.

Honestly, the patch might help us a bit. Maybe. While I haven’t studied other classes in-depth yet, but without healers gaining monstrous amounts of mana, we might be able to accomplish the task of draining them easier.

So the thing is, I enjoy Arena. But I haven’t had the desire to play on my Hunter. It really is much less forgiving when compared to playing my Warrior. So do I make a new character for PvP? I am confident we will be able to perform in PvE in one aspect (badum ching!) or another.

To me,the next two weeks or so will make that decision for me. When the patch hits, leveling a new character in anticpation of the medium gear reset will be easy. I say medim because when BC hit, my Warrior geared with AQ and Naxx gear replaced pieces the whole way to 70. But my Hunter barely replaced a thing on my journey to 80.

So I guess this post is mainly me rambling. Warbull and I made a couple alts last night. I made another Warlock, named Drhorrible, while he now has a paladin called Capthammer. My Priest is level 64 and I can’t find the desire to level him. I am not sure why. I think part of me is hoping Death Knights really are part of the unannounced portions of the new patch.

Right now the things left to test in beta are the changes when new builds hit. A lot of people seem obsessed with gear, which is fine. They are testing content I suppose. But I am more concerned with balance changes then I am with re-running Naxxramas over and over again. Most of time my time in the past few days was spent doing those Arena scrimmages when I wasn’t logged on live working the Auction House.

I am going to stop talking for now though. Thoughts, comments, concerns, or something you would like to see that I haven’t covered yet? Post ‘em here!
