Weekend Wrap-up

So has everyone been able to keep up with the whirlwind of Wrath of the Lich King information spewing everywhere? If not, I can’t say that I blame you. It’s crazy. So before we dive right in, let me get a couple things out of the way.

So, not Wacraft related, “The Dark Knight” was everything I hoped and more. Every actor in that movie was amazing. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face was perfect. And it goes without saying Heath Ledger pulled off the Joker so well that you never think “Oh, that’s Heath Ledger as the Joker.” You are too engrossed by the character and by the movie to think it. Go see it.

Also, Dr. Horrible is now only available on iTunes. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, I highly do recommend spending 4 bucks and downloading the 3 episodes. The are awesomely hilarious. Whoever thought Neil Patrick Harris could sing so well? Have I plugged Dr. Horrible? I hope so!

Warcraft stuff!

First, a new version of Cheeky’s Spreadsheet is available. It has a few changes to it, such as:

  • Gear Planner feature can now be filtered on Leather items, PvP items, and items that require you to have the requisite crafting skill to equip them.
  • Corrected some item stats (Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury, Ancient Amani Longbow, Darkmoon Card:Wrath)
  • Corrected a bug where expected DPS for Trinkets was always judging +hit on current values, regardless of setting on Gear Planner tab.

Among other things. Worth downloading the new version. Also, the spreadsheet now includes  the “How To” guide on this site. That is exciting. Then as an added bonus, “Drotara of Found” is one of the default profiles on the “Settings and Result” tab. So awesome. :)

Also, it looks like Cheeky is starting to model the WotLK Hunter stuff. Which is friggin’ sweet.

So moving on with WotLK. We talked about the Hunter talents on Friday, as I laid out my initial thoughts on the Hunter talents. It really does make things exciting.

After further analysis, it seems based off of what we know so far is that 51/15/5 is going to be the BM spec of choice. Some points could be fudged around depending on how the 51 point talent turns out and whether or not we will find any other ways to increase our pet’s hit chance. A lot of people are thinking of skipping the Improved Aspects in favor of Careful Aim. But what that will come down to I think is seeing how much AP we will end up getting out of Careful Aim.

Some type of 7/13/51 looks like the raiding spec I would leaning towards the most. the most interesting thing to remember when you think about these builds is that Windfury Totem is getting changed to be 16% Haste for Melee and Ranged. What will this do to shot rotations? I guess we’ll see.

As far as Death Knights go, it is becoming quite prevalent that having at least 17 points into Blood is going to be the most awesome way to level. While I still like the way Unholy and Frost go, Leiah/Jadefury makes a ridiculously strong case for it right here:

I liked the idea of Unholy from the start, so I definitely think I am going to level with the idea of 18/0/53 and perhaps go Frost for tanking in PvE.

Lots of fun information has been released about the Achievements in Wrath. The only thing that I am sad about is that my Warrior, Aratar, would have tons of retroactive ones from vanilla WoW that none of my other characters will have. Ragnaros, Onyxia, Nefarion, C’thun, green Dragons, etc? All killed. Many many many times. Old-school PvP rank of Knight-Captain? Yup. Oh well.

Thoughts, comments, etc? Post ‘em! Let’s talk!
